Tools A variety of traditional and contemporary tools were used to create the content. Most of the photographs were originally taken on b&w or color slide film, using 35mm and 6x6 formats, and later scanned on a film scanner. Printed work was either re-photographed on a digital camera or scanned on a flatbed scanner, depending on the size and condition of the originals. Image correction and preparation for the web was done in Adobe ® Photoshop® software, Adobe ImageReady® software or Macromedia® Fireworks® software. Animated images and videos were created in Macromedia® Flash® software. The elements of the website were assembled into a coherent unit with Macromedia Dreamweaver® software. |

Duncan has been involved in programming and photography for more than 20 years. Creating web pages is a logical extension of these two backgrounds. Experience in project management has been especially useful in planning the steps in a complex web project.
Inspired by the desire to create a web presence for Sabela Consulting, and to create a gallery to share his photographs, he started with simple HTML pages. This was followed by the need to use CSS for a consistant look across pages, and better tools to build the complex navigation required to make gallery visits a rewarding experience. Armed with his programming and SQL experience, he ventured into server-side scripting. Dreamweaver was the tool chosen to pull all this together. Initially he relied heavily on tutorials from Macromedia, w3Schools, and the "How to Do Everything.." series published by McGraw-Hill/Osborn.
